Abstract

Two flavonoids, fatty acid ethyl esters, elemene type sesquiterpenes, together with n-propyl p-hydroxybenzoate, were isolated from the ethanol extract of rhizomes of Zingiber ligulatum Roxb. Thestructure of pure compounds were kaempferol 7,4'-dimethyl ether, quercetin 7,4'-dimethyl ether and n-propyl p-hydrozybenzoate. Fatty acid ethyl esters consist of palmitic acid ethyl ester, magaric acid ethyl ester, linoleic acid ethyl ester, oleic acid ethyl ester and steric acid ethyl ester were analyed by GC-MS. In addition, elemene type sesquiterpenes are elemol, b-eudesmol and a eudesmol are also analyzed by GC-MS.
