Waxes and Triterpene acids from Lagerstroemia loudonii fruit
Abstract
Dichloromethane crude extracts from the Lagerstroemia loudonii fruit were purified by column chromatography and the isolated compounds were identified by spectroscopic methods, particularly by extensive Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) techniques. The isolated compounds were waxes, oleanane-type triterpene acid; oleanolic acid (OA) and ursan-type triterpene acid; ursolic acid (UA). This is the first report on the isolation of waxes and isomeric triterpene acids as OA and UA from this plant. Keywords: Lagerstroemia loudonii, oleanolic acid, ursolic acid, waxes
